Suffering and hope
“Suffering and Hope” presents a body of work that investigates the emotional and psychological terrain shaped by childhood trauma, cancer survival, and the living experience with ADHD and BPD.
Through layered textures, gestural mark-making, and a restrained yet charged use of color, the paintings articulate states of fragmentation, tension, and vulnerability.
While the works emerge from deeply personal narratives of suffering, they are equally defined by the presence of resilience. Moments of luminosity—subtle openings in form, shifts in palette, or interruptions in movement—serve as visual counterpoints to the surrounding intensity, suggesting the persistent possibility of renewal.
This portfolio invites viewers to engage with the duality at its core: the coexistence of pain and hope. Rather than offering resolution, the exhibition reflects the ongoing negotiation between these forces, presenting an honest and nuanced exploration of the human capacity to endure, to adapt, and to seek meaning within adversity.
